Barnill Brothers is a Belgian duo formed by Barnabé Deliens and Ruben Hillewaere. Both singer-songwriters and math teachers, they see songwriting as an escape from rational thinking, a way to reconnect with the senses. Passionate about songwriting and vocal harmonies, they have crafted a shared writing style inspired by masters like Lennon-McCartney, Paul Simon, and Bob Dylan. In 2020, they released their debut album 'A Better Place', touring by bicycle to perform in local cultural venues. Their strong bond and stage presence quickly captured the attention of audiences and the press. Their new album 'Shelter' expands their sonic palette, building on their American folk roots with 'indie' influences from artists such as Andy Shauf, Villagers, Big Thief, and Elliott Smith. 'Shelter' unfolds in dark and melancholic tones, with flashes of hope and love. Set against the heavy backdrop of recent years (post-Covid, war, the climate crisis), the album explores themes of human fragility in a world that often feels cruel, sometimes absurd. In the middle of this darkness lies a determination to enjoy small moments of everyday life with the people we love.
